About Esher

is a residential suburb in Elmbridge on the London-Surrey border. It covers a large area, between 13 and 15.4 miles southwest of Charing Cross. 

Esher is well served by major routes. In the south, it is bounded by the A3 Portsmouth Road, an urban motorway buffered by the Esher Commons. 

The A307, historically the Portsmouth Road, runs through Esher and forms its main street for a 1 mile. Esher railway station connects the town to London Waterloo Station. 

The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. In Tudor times, it was the site of one of Henry VIII’s favourite hunting grounds. 

More recently, Esher has been a favourite place for music stars to live, with the Beatles’ and Maurice Gibb of the owning properties in the town.
